A disturbing video circulating on social media has raised serious safety concerns after individuals allegedly used a modified slingshot to target shoppers with rocks or other projectiles near Persimmon Place Shopping Center in Dublin, California.
The video reportedly surfaced on November 1, 2026, during the busy holiday shopping season. It appears to show individuals recording themselves while attempting to hit moving pedestrians and placing bets on whether they could strike their targets.
Video Shows Individuals Aiming at Shoppers
In the footage, an individual can allegedly be seen aiming a slingshot toward shoppers walking between Nordstrom Rack and Arnold Road. A male voice heard in the recording reportedly says, “If you miss it costs you $50 and $100 for every hit.”
The disturbing footage appears to show the individuals treating the incident as a game, with money being wagered on whether they could hit unsuspecting pedestrians from a distance.
Toward the end of the video, a woman in the Persimmon Place parking lot appears to be struck in the upper body by a projectile. Her companion is subsequently seen approaching a shopping center security officer.
However, it remains unclear whether the woman sustained any injuries or whether local authorities have formally launched an investigation into the incident.
Concerns Over Public Safety in Dublin
Dublin is generally considered to have relatively low violent crime levels compared with larger nearby metropolitan areas such as Oakland and San Francisco. However, incidents involving the alleged targeting of innocent shoppers raise serious concerns about public safety, particularly in busy commercial areas.
As holiday shopping activity increases, shopping centers naturally attract families, children, and visitors. Any alleged activity involving the deliberate targeting of pedestrians with potentially dangerous projectiles presents a significant safety concern.
Calls for Investigation and Accountability
The reported incident has sparked concerns about the safety of shoppers and the need for appropriate action if the allegations are confirmed.
Using a modified slingshot to target unsuspecting pedestrians for entertainment or financial bets would represent extremely dangerous and unacceptable behavior.
Authorities should establish what happened, determine whether anyone was injured, and identify those responsible if a crime occurred.
Holiday shopping should be a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. This kind of alleged human hunting has no place in Dublin, California, or anywhere in the Silicon Valley community.
